Presentation

From May 28 to 30, come live the moment of a stay with Jean Pierre and his family. He opens the doors of his farm to discover his life, ancestral customs and the daily work of a shepherd.
It is on the Bénou plateau, in the Ossau Valley, that it is installed. Its herd of cows stays there all year round, it is a mecca of pastoralism in the Ossau Valley, 900 m above sea level, on the road to the Col de Marie Blanque.
Le Bénou is also the barn district of the villages of Bielle and Bilhères, you discover a built and natural heritage.
It is a stay of 3 days/ 2 nights that we offer, stay embellished with hikes, farm work, local meals, stories and songs...

Organization :
1st day : Meeting at 8am in the Chapel of the Houndas. Transhumance of the herd of cows to the estive of Congles.
Farm meal, Béarnais songs
Night in a mountain barn (dormitories)

2nd day : Hike on the Lakes of Ayous, place of estive of his herd of cows from July. Hike from 5h to 6 h of walk, 700 m of elevation.
In the late afternoon, return to the Bénou plateau.
Farm meal, Béarn songs.
Night in a mountain barn (dormitories)

3rd day : hike: walk around the plateau, lunch
End of stay scheduled around 3 pm.
